The recent 13th International Conference on the Molecular Biology and Pathogenesis of Clostridia (CLOSTPATH), in Banff, Canada this Sep 19th-23rd 2023, a prestigious and highly anticipated event, brought together top internationally recognized leaders, scientists and clinicians to explore and advance the field of clostridial molecular biology and pathogenesis, unravel the mysteries of clostridial bacteria, their mechanisms, and their impact on health and various industries, shaping the future of clostridial research.

ClostPath 2023 13th International Conference on the Molecular Biology and Pathogenesis of Clostridia
Dr. Wiep Klass Smits – Associate Professor (Leiden University), Dr. Sandra Morel - Director, Vaccine Project Leader (Glaxo Smith Kline)

Dr. Wiep Klaas Smits, an Associate Professor specializing in Medical Microbiology at the Leiden University Medical Center (LUMC), showcased his team’s ground-breaking work. Dr. Smits presented a poster titled “Towards controlled human Clostridioides difficile colonization and infection”, which also represents the collective efforts of both LUMC and the Inno4Vac CHIMICHURRI Subtopic 2 Partners’ support and research initiative for the development of a controlled human infection model (CHIM) for Clostridioides difficile.
